Leather selection

Leather selection
Leather is a very special product with highly desirable characteristics. Nevertheless, it is important to be aware of different types, properties and variations in the raw materials to ensure satisfaction with the end product.

Points to remember while selecting leather:

Raw material: Selecting the right type of leather is very crucial. For making ladies garment, cowhide is the most appropriate. Seasonal variations and animal breed will affect quality and size of the leather product.

Leather types: There are different finishes available in leather items. Semi Aniline and Pigmented leathers will have better properties than Suede, Nubuck and Aniline. Oily Nubucks and Aniline leathers have tendency to get dirty easily and it becomes difficult to clean. Pigmented leathers have little less natural appearance.

Leather quality: Leather can either be graded or bought as a mixed selection. Different qualities of leather have a different price. The more you pay, the better quality of leather.

Sampling: Always make sure that the quality of the leather is clearly acceptable. It is advisable to keep a good sized sample of the leather and fingerprint test for reference.
